Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember something about you between pages or visits. This page explains which cookies this website uses, what they are for, and how you can control them.
Cookies that are always set
One cookie, called wm_consent, remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics so that we do not ask you on every page. It holds only the word "granted" or "denied", lasts for a year, and is strictly necessary for the choice you make to work. Our own staff also receive a session cookie when they sign in to update the site; it is never set for visitors.
Analytics cookies, only if you accept
With your permission we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are read, how people arrive, and what devices they use. This helps us improve the site. Google Analytics (and Google Tag Manager, which we may use to manage it) is not loaded at all until you click Accept on the banner, and until then no data is sent to Google.
Cookies Google Analytics sets when accepted
- _ga, distinguishes one visitor from another; lasts two years
- _ga_ followed by an identifier, keeps the current browsing session together; lasts two years
- Occasionally a short-lived _gid cookie for the same purpose; lasts 24 hours
What is collected and where it goes
Google Analytics records the pages you visit, the time spent, the site you came from, an approximate location derived from your IP address (which is anonymised), and general information about your browser and device. It does not record your name or contact details, and we do not connect it to anything you send us through the enquiry form. The information is processed by Google, which may store it outside the UK under its standard contractual safeguards. Google's own privacy policy explains how it handles this data.
Changing your mind
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page. Choosing Decline removes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser and stops any further data being sent. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser's settings; the site will continue to work normally, though we will ask about analytics again on your next visit.
No advertising or tracking
We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking, or any tool that follows you to other websites. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first and we will ask for your consent before anything new is set.
