Contract review

Does it say what you think it says, and who carries the risk when it doesn't?

Most agreements are signed on the strength of a summary. Waymakers Legal Services reads the document itself, tells you in plain terms what it commits you to, and flags the clauses that would matter if the relationship broke down.

Review is priced as a defined piece of work, so a landlord, agent or business can have an agreement checked before signing without committing to anything further.

Before you sign

A written note covering what the agreement obliges each party to do, where the risk sits, what happens on termination or default, and the terms worth pushing back on. Where negotiation is wanted, that can be handled with the other side directly.

When a contract is already a problem

Where an agreement is in dispute or being relied on against you, review covers the strength of each side's position, the options, negotiation, a formal claim, or walking away, and the likely cost of each, before anything is committed to.

What gets reviewed

Property

  • Tenancies and occupation contracts
  • Leases and licences
  • Management and agency agreements

Business

  • Terms of business
  • Supplier and contractor agreements
  • Service level and outsourcing agreements

Protective

  • Confidentiality agreements
  • Data processing terms
  • Settlement and termination agreements

Fees

Review of a single agreement is offered as a fixed fee. Where the review leads to negotiation or a dispute, the basis of charging for that next stage is agreed before it begins.
